Corona , CA –  Dozens of community members packed the conference room at the Corona Public Library to join the Corona-Norco Adult Education program as they celebrated Adult Education Week. Adult Education Week is recognized throughout the state by building awareness about the services and programs offered to the community through Adult Education programs. This year, Adult Education Week was recognized from March 11-15. The program took place on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 representatives from the school district, local legislative offices as well as members of the community were present to partake in the special program. Superintendent, Dr. Michael Lin was also in attendance and spoke about his personal connection to the adult education program when he was growing up, and shared how the adult school in his community was a tremendous resource to his parents in their pursuit to learn English.

The program also included remarks from a panel of students who shared how their experiences in the adult education program had impacted their lives. “Going back to school was a great opportunity for me and Corona-Norco Adult School made it so easy for me, it was the best decision I ever made,” said Betty Giner, student panelist. Other student panelists described their motivation to excel in their education program for the benefit their children’s academic success in school; being able to assist their children with their homework and have the ability to communicate with their children’s teachers was a common impetus among the student panelist.

“The mission of Corona-Norco Adult School is to advance our community’s economic, workforce development, and societal goals by preparing adult learners for careers, college, and civic responsibility. Most importantly, Adult Education Week celebrates the successes of our students and the impact their education has had on their lives,” said JoDee Slyter, Director of the Corona-Norco Adult Education program.
