Board of Education Recognitions – January 15, 2013

The Board of Education was pleased to recognize several of our outstanding students and staff for their extraordinary endeavors. Among those honored were teachers, Suzanne Adame, Belinda Clarry and Alia Morales for obtaining their National Board Certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. National Board Certification is the highest credential available for educators in the nation, and it is through hard work and dedication that these teachers have completed this extremely rigorous program.

John White, teacher at Susan B. Anthony was also recognized by the Board of Education for his philanthropic efforts in coordinating the Bicycles for Children Project. This project brought staff, parents, students and community members together to donate their time and resources to building 196 bicycles for children in our community! The Bicycles for Children Project was a great success and the organization hopes to make this an annual event that reaches more children our community.

The Board of Education also honored, the Centennial High School Football team for being the 2012 CIF-SS Inland Division and CIF- State Regional Football Champions, as well as, the Santiago High School Marching Band and Color Guard for their participation in the 2013 Rose Parade.

Principal Cecilia Arzaga-Chester was also present to accept the Board of Education recognition on behalf of the students and teachers from Vicentia Elementary School for recently receiving the Golden Bell Award by the California School Boards Association.
