Dozens of elementary school students arrived at CNUSD’s main kitchen where the District’s Child Nutrition Services Department hosted the First Annual Food Show. This student-centered event provided the unique opportunity for students to taste test items before being placed on lunch menus. The District’s food vendors set up tasting stations where students could cast their votes on iPads displayed at each table. Student’s were not only food critics for the day but also had the privilege of taking a VIP tour of the main kitchen. The Child Nutrition staff guided the tours and allowed students to box pizzas that would be delivered to school sites that day.
“I was really pleased with the event and all the great feedback we received, our students are so amazing and they were incredibly honest about all the food,” said Amanda Colon, Child Nutrition Coordinator. “The students are the reason we are here and working with them to create a menu they love and enjoy is an incredibly fulfilling experience.”
