Congratulations to John F. Kennedy Middle College High School for being nominated by the California Department of Education for the esteemed National Blue Ribbon Award program. John F. Kennedy Middle College High School is among the 35 schools in California to be nominated for this coveted award and the only school in Riverside County to have been selected as a nominee for this national prize.

The National Blue Ribbon program, a program of the U.S. Department of Education has recognized nearly 7,000 schools since 1982, when the program began. The award recognizes schools where students perform at very high levels or schools that demonstrate significant improvements in students’ academic achievement.

“At Kennedy Middle College, we are honored to be nominated for this prestigious award. This distinction is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff, students, and entire Kennedy community,” Principal April Moore said. “This nomination is particularly impressive as we seek to support “middle-performing” students. As we have seen year after year at Kennedy, these students—with additional support in a smaller, more personalized learning environment—are able to achieve greatness. That is what we’re all about—providing students with a strong education that prepares them well for their future: education at a college/university, embarking on their chosen career, and beyond.”

Once again, many congratulations to everyone at Kennedy Middle College High School for this distinguished nomination; it is in recognition of the dedication, hard work and commitment to education that they have been selected as a nominee for this national prize.

U.S. Secretary of Education will announce the winners of the National Blue Ribbon Award in September; the winning schools are also honored at an annual awards ceremony held in Washington, DC.
