Happiness Sprinkled Throughout Corona with Orange Grove HS

orange1A large dose of happiness descended upon Corona on Friday, February 6th from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Signs with positive messages like, “You’re enough!” and “Tell them you love them!” will be waved on Sixth Street in front of the Civic Center so that all those driving or walking by can be encouraged by a random act of kindness. Leading this charge will be students of Orange Grove High School as well as parents, CNUSD Board Members, and city council members. Corona High School’s Academic Decathletes Take 4th in County

CHS ADCorona High School’s Academic Decathlon team, advised by Lynette Menter-Hartman, finished in 4th place (out of 19 teams) at a recent Riverside County competition. This is a tremendous accomplishment, and deserving recognition for the hard-work put on by this team.  In addition to the 4th place trophy overall, two students- Maddie Nguyen and Naz Chowhury- brought home Gold Medals for the Essay portion of this competition.  Way to go!  Their effort and preparation was made possible by their fantastic coaches, Ms. Menter, Ms. Beyersdorf, and Ms. Shieh.  Their amazing dedication is evidenced in the success of our Decathletes. The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) creates “assessments that accurately measure student progress toward college and career-readiness.” To prepare for this new online mode of testing, CNUSD is increasing access to students computing by adding computer labs at our schools sites. MFD 5 (2)Math Field Day was held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Corona High School, with nearly 3,000 in attendance including students, parents and family members, teachers, community and high school student volunteers, district administrators, and Board Members. Austin Hill signed with the Seattle Seahawks, Josh Mitchell with the Indianapolis Colts and Tyler Slavin with the St. Louis Rams, this marks a significant moment for Roosevelt High School, its football program and the entire CNUSD community. Josh, Austin and Tyler are Eleanor Roosevelt High School’s first athletes to play in the NFL.
